The trekking route near Tiger Leaping Gorge and along the banks of the Jinsha River offers some of the most breathtaking scenery found in the world. This tour offers you the opportunity to experience one of the great gorges of China in this 25 kilometer trek for two full days.

Itinerary

  • Day1

    Arrival to Lijiang, Old Town of Lijiang, Mufu Mansion, Lion Hill, Black Dragon Pond Park

    Welcome to Lijiang, a very impressive ancient city! Upon arrival at Lijiang airport/railway station, your guide and driver will meet you in the arrival hall and transfer you to the hotel.
    The Old Town of Lijiang has a history of more than 800 years, which was listed in UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. It’s known for its beautiful traditional buildings and its water networks in ancient city
    The Mu family ruled Lijiang until 1723 and its mansion, in the south of the old town, comprised more than 100 buildings. Destroyed by the Qing, it was built after the earthquake on the ruins of traditional houses with a mixture of Han, Naxi, Bai and Tibetan architectural styles.
    Then visit the Black Dragon Pond Park at the northern end of the city, it is a picturesque enclave where the elegant Deyue Lou rises in the middle of a pond full of tents, with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the background.

    Yuhu Village, Joseph Rock Old Residence, Mural in Baisha and Shuhe Ancient Town

    Today your guide and driver will accompany you to the Yuhu Village which is located in the southern Nevada Mountain of the Jade Dragon. As you walk around this authentic Naxi village, you will see naxi ladies wearing traditional costumes and children playing, unique stone house, a wooden fish hanging in the middle of the roof,...
    Then comes the Old Residence of Joseph Rock, an Austrian-American botanist who came to Lijiang and stayed in the Yuhu village for 27 years.
    Then visit the ancient Mural paintings of Baisha in the village of Baisha. Painted over 1000 years ago, the murals combine the cultures of Han, Tibet and Naxi and show the stories of Tibetan Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. The journey continues to the Ancient Town of Shuhe - a component of the Ancient City of Lijiang classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997

  • Day3

    First Bend of the Yangtze River and Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking

    • Halfway Guesthouse
    After breakfast you will take the road by car to Qiaotou, the starting point of the hike. You will see the First Bend of the Yangtze River on the way.
     Today you will hike about 6 hours. The hike starts from Qiaotou. You will first hike two hours to the Naxi Family Guest house and stop for a rest.
    Then walk from the Naxi Family Guest house to the Tea-horse Inn up by 28 bends in 2 - 3 hours.
    Between the Tea-horse hostel and half-way guest house there is still about 2 hours of hiking. In this part you will have a superb view of the Golden Sand River and the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Halfway Guesthouse is today’s hiking end and you will stay overnight here. It is the halfway point of the hike on the Tiger Leaping Gorge.

    Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking, Back to Lijiang

    After breakfast continue the hike to the middle of the Tiger Leaping Gorge past Tina's Guest house and Teacher Zhang Hostel. The duration is about 3 hours. The landscape is beautiful. The middle of the Tiger Leaping Gorge is the most beautiful gorge.
     Climb up the middle gorge passing Yixiantian and Woody's Inn. The hike between the middle gorge and the new pier (the lower gorge) lasts about 3 hours. You see beautiful views of the lower gorges and take the boat from the new pier in Daju. The hiking trip will be over in Daju.
     You will be transferred from Daju to Lijiang by the agency's car.
     

  • Day5

    Lijiang Departure

    On this day you will be free until your guide transfers you to the airport for your flight to your next destination.

•    Service Expenses (includes planning, handling, operating and communication expenses) and Government Taxes.

•    International air tickets to enter and leave China
•    Chinese visa fees.
•    Personal Expenses: For example cost of excess luggage, laundry, beverages, fax, telephone, optional activities etc.
